specific data and technology

I have only taught in preschool and kindergarten classes and that was over 17 years ago so technology was just on the edge of greatness,Not to the point of being in every classroom.
The closest I can get to specific data used to make an instructional decision is perhaps my children chore chart. On the chore chart I would have chores scheduled, done, child's name, and chores still not done. I found the chore chart on the Internet, downloaded and printed it out. I did not need  any additional data.
They looked a lot like these. In this instance the children were learning how to follow directions and how to complete a job.The specific data entered into the chart is what decided what child had more chores to do and what child I completed work and earn their reward.

I'm not quite sure what additional technology would've done to help. I use basic technology in the first place to get the chart which was downloading the chart off the Internet and printed it out. Possibly if it was a web application and each child could enter what chore they did online and it connected with my phone, that would be pretty cool.

technology integration matrix / better known as tim

Technology integration matrix/ better known as tim

When it comes to the characteristics of the matrix i feel like i fit in with the constructive, authentic, and goal directed. Reason being that i am a online classroom student.  I am at the adoption Stage because I am just now getting into the technology of today, learning, using, and becoming comfortable with it.

Technology Integration Matrix. Great links to valuable resources that provides technology integration ideas in all subject areas.

I identify with those levels because that is exactly the state that i am in. i use technology tools to connect new information to my prior knowledge rather then passively receive it, i use technology to link learning activities to the world beyond the instructional setting, and i set goals, plan activities , monitor progress, and evaluate results rather then just completing assignments
Technology  at this level is quite new to me, with me being a older student. Even with my children being quite advanced with tech. i never really had to contribute to that part of their schooling. So it's funny when i have to call one of my kids over to the computer to help me with one of my projects.

Beginning

Beginning this blog is a very daunting task i am not sure what i am doing but here we go.

I don't read many blogs  but i always thought it was a place where you can write what you think.
T he text ask that i focus on this video and text while answering the question associated with this journal.
  • Refer to the video History of Educational Technology and article Technology Integration: A Short History from your required readings.
  • Share several of the key developments that you think have been most significant.
  • Explain why your choices can be considered “key developments”.
  • Reflect upon your experience with technology in the classroom (for example, from possibly low tech overhead projectors to high-tech interactive white boards).
  • Describe how the use of technology increased or decreased your learning and explain why.

Some of the key development in technology is definitely paper and computers. the two techs are the developmentally most significant because paper made everything possible.

Back in the day when i was in grammar school and high school tech was of the TV, overhead , and pa systems variety.

Now my kids  have wifi in the schools laptops in every classroom and their own personal radio stations. How neat is that!!!!!!!

Technology has improved my learning experience because now as an adult i can continue my education as well as raise my family and learn a living wage. Amen for technology.
